The Indian motorsport and engineering education landscape is set for a transformative leap with the launch of the Student Moto Tech Challenge (SMTC) 2026 - India’s first international-level motorsport engineering competition dedicated exclusively to 2-wheeler technologies. The event will be hosted by CRA Motorsports and will culminate at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore from February 10 to 12, 2026.
“India is long overdue for a structured platform that nurtures technical talent for the two-wheeler motorsport and performance segment,” said Dr. Tharun Kumar S Founder of CRA Motorsports. “SMTC is not just a racing event, it’s an engineering bootcamp for the next generation of motorsport professionals.”
CRA Motorsports (OPC) Private Limited has been steadily powering India’s motorsport talent pipeline through training programs, on-track experiences, and team management modules. With SMTC 2026, they’re opening up a legitimate gateway for engineering students to enter the motorsport industry - tools, track time, tech and all.

A 3-Phase Immersive Format
What sets SMTC apart is its multi-phase structure, which takes students from fundamentals to the finish line:
1. Virtual Certification Modules: Pre-event online training designed to equip students with core concepts in vehicle dynamics, telematics, and motorsport operations.
2. Onsite Technical Bootcamps: In-person sessions led by global motorsport professionals, offering deep-dives into 2-wheeler design, data analysis, and team strategy.
3. Trackside Engineering Challenges: Competitive evaluations at Kari Motor Speedway, where teams are tested on technical innovation, vehicle performance, documentation, and real-time race strategy.
Built for the Track. Designed for the Paddock. Tuned for the Future.
SMTC 2026 isn’t just another college competition. It’s a hands-on, learning platform where engineering meets pitlane pressure. The event is structured to simulate the operations of a professional motorcycle racing team, right down to ECU remaps and suspension setup. The challenge has a multi-phase structure, which takes students from fundamentals to the finish line.
