Singh pairs again Sherif to conquer Overall and class titles at MRC
Malaysia’s seasoned campaigner Karamjit Singh and India’s Musa Sherif, another experienced co driver, won the overall championship in the Round 2 of the Malaysian Rally Championship, which was a part of the 2025 MAM Festival of Speed Rally in Sepang, Malaysia. Karamjit had previously won Round 1 with another Indian co-driver Vivek Ponnusamy.
Karamjit Singh, a three-time Asia Pacific Rally Championship winner and FIA Production Car World Championship title holder paired with Musa Sherif, an eight time National co-driver champion who is in his 33rd year of rallying. The duo were rallying together since 2008, each with individual championship wins, reunited after a long absence, aiming to reclaim past glory.
Driving a PROTON Gen 2 4WD prepared by MRU Motorsports, the pair showcased their trademark professionalism and secured both the Open class and overall victory. They dominated all nine stages of the rally, which featured three stages that repeated three times, setting the fastest time in every single stage.
Karamjit and Musa seized a 7-second lead over Saladin Mazlan and Arish Qutb Ahmad Khan in the opening stage. Their advantage ballooned in Stage 2 after Saladin lost significant time, forcing his retirement in Stage 5. The winners extended their lead by over a minute in the next stage and ultimately triumphed with a commanding 4-minute, 14-second margin.
Sutan Mustaffa and Kamarul Anuar climbed to second place (+4:14), while Faidzal Alang and Zamri Muhamat dropped over two minutes in Stage 2 and never recovered, finishing third (+15:18 behind the leaders).
