
Bengaluru 22 July: The FMSCI Indian National Rally Sprint Championship 2024 South Zone 2W Qualifiers was held at the Stella 23 Farms in Sarjapur, Promoted by FB Motorsports it had 140 participants for qualifing in 12 classes. Highlight of the event was Ather 450X had over 20 entries in its Debut one make venture.
Open class upto 550cc: Asad Khan from Chikkamagaluru was the outright winner and also the fastest rider of the day as he clocked it in 7min 36.5sec, the second finisher Suhail Ahmad from Bengaluru was 8sec behind, Nataraj R with over a second deficit finished third. With .500th of a second difference Sinan Francis missed the podium and Sanjay Somashekar with over three seconds difference was fifth.
GroupA upto 550cc class only for privateers was bagged by Sinan Francis riding a Yamaha WR 450F was the winner of the class, while Nataraj R riding a KTM 450 EXC was slower by 2sec to settle for second position, Suhail Ahmed was further 5sec slower but managed to settled for third as Asad Khan with further 2 sec difference missed the podium.

In the Open Class Up to 550cc, Bengaluru’s Asad Khan (7:36.500) achieved the top position, showcasing exceptional skill and speed. Suhail Ahmad (7:44.500) followed closely, securing a strong second place, while Nataraj R (7:45.600) completed the podium with a commendable performance.
The 131cc upto 165cc class saw Yogesh P lead the category with a timing of 8:07:900, followed by Abdul Rahman in second with over a second difference as Abdur Pasha with over 8sec deficit finished third. Bharath L and Varun Kumar finished within the same second they were 3sec behind.

The 166cc to 260cc: Coimbatore's Karan Kumar bagged the top slot as he managed to keep the Bengaluru boy Sachin D behind him with a mere half a second difference Uday Kumar was 5sec slower but was comfortable enough to hold on to the podium. Sanjay Somashekar and Arun T finished in fourth and fifth position respectively.
260cc upto 400cc: Donesh Deepak Joshi riding a KTM ADV 390 was the topper with a total time of 8min 11sec, the second finisher Hemant Gowda was 4sec behind, while Venu Ramesh Kumar from Coimbatore with further 29sec difference finished third.
Bullet class: Sinan Francis riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan clocked 8:00.500 to win the class while Suhail Ahmed from Bengaluru with 8sec deficit was second and Naresh VS also from Bengaluru completed the podium with a further difference of over 5sec. Arun Joy and Sreekant Kormana with further 3sec difference each finished in fourth and fifth.
Scooter class: N Karthik from Bengaluru with over 3sec lead was the winner as Gautham N followed him in second, while G Ganapathy with further 36sec difference made up to the podium. While Dilip Kumar and Mohammed Arif were DNF.
Upto 260CC GroupD: Yogesh P was the fastest in the class by clocking 8:13.400 and clinched first place with 2sec difference seasoned rider from Chikkamagaluru Asad Khan finished second with less than a second difference Sanjay Somashekar finished on the podium in third. Missed the podium with a mere .100th of a second was Yuva Kumar, Uday Kumar finished fifth.
261cc to 450cc GroupD: Bengalurian's dominated the class as Sharath Kumar was the leader with over a six second lead as Naresh finished second, Suhail Ahmad with less than a second difference finished third. Mohammed Zaheer was 6 sec slower to settle for fourth and Sathish S with a further 13sec difference was fifth.
Ather 450X the one make EV Category was part of the event for the very first time in sprint, Bengaluruians dominated the class as Mohammed Zaheer with a lead of over 3sec was the winner followed by Subramanya T in second, as Varun Kumar was slower by 4sec to settle for third, Suhail Ahmed finished fourth and Bharath L was fifth.
For the first time in Indian Motorsport, the off-road sprint featured an EV category – with the Ather 450X. Mohammed Zaheer (9:16.500) took the lead, followed by Subramanya T (9:19.900) in second place. Varun Kumar (9:23.500) secured third, with Suhail Ahmad (9:26.300) narrowly missing another podium and finishing in fourth.
Star of Karnataka: Sanjay Somashekar clocked 7:54.000 to win the class as 19sec separated Bharath L who finished second and Abrar Ahmed finished third with less than a second difference. Sathish S and Mohammed Zaheer finished in fourth and fifth position respectively.
The Veterans class, a new addition this season, saw Jose AJ with 2sec lead was the winner while Venu Rameshkumar finished second.
In the Ladies Class Up to 260cc, Panchami LS secured the lead of 15sec for the win as Tanaya Singh finished second, with 27sec difference Lani Zena Fernandes finished third and 11sec seperated Vandyashree who completed the lineup.
